The Sacred Convocation
During the Sacred Convocation the Seminary may also grant special awards to pastors and lay people who have distinguished themselves in service to Christ and His Church. These awards include:
The honorary doctorate
Honorary doctorates are granted to people who have distinguished themselves in Church and Academy to the extent that they are deemed worthy to be called “doctor.” The LL.D. (Doctor of Laws) and the Litt.D. (Doctor of Letters) may be granted to lay leaders. The D.D. (Doctor of Divinity) is granted to pastors.
The Doulos dia Iesoun award
The Doulos dia Iesoun (Servant for Jesus’ Sake) award is granted to “veterans of the cross,” pastors with a minimum of 30 years of faithful and distinguished service in the ministry.
The Faith in Life award
The Faith in Life award is presented to individuals, either pastors or lay persons, who in everyday life and in their vocations to an exceptional degree reflect their faith in Jesus.
The Friend of the Seminary award
The Friend of the Seminary award is presented to those who have contributed significantly to the seminary as members of the board of regents, seminary guild, faculty, or staff, as donors, or as volunteers. Present members of the board, faculty, staff, guild, or their families shall not be eligible.
